Certainly there are legit sellers on E bay, and with that some great bargains to be had too. You just need to do your research and all being well you should find all goes fine. Of course never fall for the second highest bidder scam either, its very common, if you lose a bid and the seller contacts you and says the highest bidder backed out for some reason, and askes if you wish to purchase the item at your highest bid make sure you tell them to relist it with a buy it now price agreed between you. Once listed purchase straight away via paypal only, no other method or you can get ripped off. A friend of mine bought an i Phone outside of E bay as a failed second bidder and got scammed, the item was fake and wouldnt work in the UK. E bay have no responsiblity because the sale was done outside E bay simply because he didnt insist on the item being relisted first. Paypal dont want to know either because its a civil matter and there is no proof that the seller didnt already inform him it was not genuine. Had it been relisted, then he could argue that the listing on the auctions stated it was brand new and genuine and the pics used on the auction were not the same as the item recieved. He could have got all his money back if he followed my advise, now he is £300 in the red! I assume there was never really a winning bidder, probably the sellers second account bidding on it to push the price up ( this can and does happen!). Set yourself a maximum price for any bid item and stick to it, dont let artificial bids by the sellers mates push the price up. You have been warned!
