To be fair there is quality, made on old looms Selvedge and cheap, made on modern machines en mass selvedge. Selvedge in itself doesnt automatically ensure quality denim, and now everybody is realising that selvedge denim is the top stuff, every high street brand and his dog are releasing their own selvedge range of jeans and knocking them out at $60 a pair. So in answer to your question, given that the faker can sell a very real looking fake at nearly the same price as the real RMC (which cost very much less than the real one cost to make), then yes its still viable. In fact the profit margin on these very good fakes is probably higher than the obviously mega cheap RMC copies we are used to seeing that sell for $40, and cost $10 to make ( or less). These "good" fakes could sell for $500 and probably cost $50 to make so you get a ten fold profit from them instead of the smaller four fold profit made by the super cheap fakes which probably wont sell anyway because they fool nobody in the first place. Also, fact is, if it wasnt worth doing it then the fakers wouldnt bother.
