Child labor is coming more and more into stories by people who are not even interested in fashion (at long last), I notice it at work. People watch the documentaries that are made and they'll talk the anti child exploitation stuff.

I know RMC have signed up against child labor but that can't be the case for all designers (is it?).

I am just asking which big companies should be avoided due to unethical labor policies?

I mean the stitching and embroidery is amazing but it would sure loose its beauty if it was a 9 year old girl getting next to nothing for creating it. I'm sure some designer clothing finds its way onto the market via these routes.

Its very difficult to know which brands use child labour, and the ones that inadvertantly do are almost completely unaware of it. They simply outsource the manufacture of their goods to an OEM, say in China or India for example and never inspect the factories properly. I know GAP where accused of using Child labour recently, but I believe they sorted it out as soon as they were made aware. Its not just the children though, many adults working in Chinese factories work 100 hours a week and have their children sleeping next to the machines they are working on. One thing is for sure though, even if the authentic companies are not using child labour knowingly, the producers of Fakes certainly do, anybody with any kind of conscience would avoid these and buy the real thing or not at all!

To me that's the worst thing about fakes. Forget the poor quality and embarrassment of wearing them. The first concern for anyone should be HOW it was made. Louis Vuitton just got $61m from eBay for selling fakes, they should also have to pay for ignoring how this stock was created.

Primark has just featured in a BBC program where they got exposed doing dodgy trades in India. They ended up sacking their suppliers. I don't think that's enough. They should also be fined and the money raised, used to combat the industry and expose more companies

The sad thing about this issue is it's almost impossible to stop because think of all the thousands of places doing this around the world.

The sad thing is child labor will always be exploited by corporate scum as long as consumers demand cheap products.

Cheers Kanye Banksy is the top man.

I agree with your view, its a sad state of affairs how peoples beliefs are clouded by cash.

I think more people who are less fashion minded are starting to talk about this issue. I just hope it moves from talk to action

In my opinion there is nothing less fashionable than clothing that was made by little children whatever the brand! If I know this is happening then I wont buy the goods for certain!
