O.K. guys due to popular demand, here are pics of the various types of waistpatch used on authentic RMC jeans, given there has been a few iterations since the brands inception in 2002. I cant be certain of exactly what order they came in and what year each was released, but I will use an educated guess and put them in the order I think they came in LOL

You can even see the original style wooden box in this pic!

Often this very plain waistpatch would have the waist size in dark ink printed onto the patch. I will assume this design was one of the first so we would be looking at 2002/2003 ish

The next waistpatch uses the older "banksy" style monkey in the design which I assume gave birth to the RMC logo we still see today:

I will assume this to be 2003/2004. Its fair to say that you are very unlikely to find many pairs of RMC with patches like the above 2 examples outside of Asia. This was produced when RMC was made in very small numbers, its also unlikely you will ever see fakes of these, certainly Ive never encounted any.

EDIT: The above waistpatch was in fact the first style used prior to the plainer one at the start of the thread, thanks to TNT for the info.

Next up we have waistpatches which most will have seen in one form or another, both are very similar, the only difference being the "Red Monkey Compy" or "Red Monkey Company" wording at the top of the patch. I think the version with "Compy" came first, prob around 2004/2005. This is the style of waistpatch you will most likely see on fakes!!

Next up is a derivative of the above 2004/5 waistpatch, visually the design is the same but what makes this different is the material used. Where as the last 2 waistpatches used thicker leather, this one is sort of "cardboardy". Its similar to the material used on levis 501 we see today. Much thinner than normal, its easy to mistake these for fakes, but in fact this design was used on what would have been RMC's early Diffusion Jeans, the most common being the McDonalds Collab worn by staff in the HK restaurants. Ive even got this waistpatch on the inside of one of my RMC denim jackets from the same era. Jeans with this waistpatch are not selvedge.

The design on these types of waistpatches look like they have been printed instead of embossed so will look smoother across the surface.

Now we are into more recent waistpatches now, again this design is faked quite a bit too, the writing has now been removed, there is a much bigger RMC logo taking up most of the space. This design is found on 2005/2006 designs;

Moving onto 2006/2007+ designs we now see the introduction of Laser Numbering in an attempt to reduce fakes, it should be pointed out that this style of waistpatch with "UNEVERTRYUNEVERKNOW" at the top was also released just before lasering took place, so its quite possible to have legit waistpatches that look like this without the laser number on it.

Finally onto the last two waistpatch styles. The next one is the one found on the Diffusion non selvedge RMCs which looks identical to that found on current designs ( a throwback to the 2005/6 design) except this time the words "RED MONKEY COMPANY" are stamped on in black ink and these are always laser numbered too;

This next one is probably the first change we have seen to a waistpatch in recent times and is found on the new RMC offshoot label Martin Ksohoh Workshop ( MKWS). Very simlar to the above diffusion one, its is stamped in black ink with the letters MKWS
