Hmmm...if you had asked that question a few years ago then I would have said no, but i know what you mean, you can get selvedge denim dirt cheap now. All the high street stores have a line of selvedge denim in their line up now, marketing it as premium quality, when basically its still crappy denim despite being selvedge. If the selvedge was produced on old looms then yes I think there is an argument to say that the denim is closer to older authentic denim from the past and thus should be good quality, but the best looking denim I own is a pair of E.U. Evisus made in Italy which are not selvedge. Selvedge isnt a guarentee of quality but it is a good start, but i certainly agree that many denim companies now push this as proof that they are selling a quality item which isnt always true.

there is a wholly misinform mystique around "selfedge" now that is being driven by marketing monsters trying to make a quick buck. brands like rmc, sugar cane, evisu and others make quality denim selvedge or not and other brands will always make crap denim selvedge or not.
