To be honest, everybody is jumping aboard the selvedge bandwagon, even Topshop here in the UK offer selvedge jeans for about £60 a pair. Although they are selvedge they have almost all been made on modern machines in places like Turkey and China and are in no way anything like as good as made on old looms genuine selvedge from the likes of Evisu and of course RMC/YOROPIKO. As we have said before there is poor selvedge and good selvedge, selvedge in itself is no guarentee of absolute quality ( although even cheap selvedge is prob better than the standard denim most brands churn out)

That is very true. High quality shuttle loom selvedge denim alone is just one part of making a great pair of jeans. Just like Dunny said selvedge in itself is no guarantee of quality. The jeans can be produced by right people using the right tools or mass produced like majority of the clothing available. But it's the combination of all those elements/time and effort put to making a pair of jeans that make them special.
