I certainly hope this happens, but I suspect that Martin will tread gently into the USA and see how his products sell via a few select stores first.

I know this might sound stupid - but have you really thought about this?
Opening a store in London? That is BIG TIME!!!
The cost would be incredible - they would have to shift a ton of jeans!
Put this into scale, RMC is a small brand stocked in a handful or stores in the UK & Europe. I wouldn't have thought they were at the stage of opening up flagship stores in London.....yet! The possible RMC market in the UK is IMO, far to small to justify a London store. Obviously in Hong Kong there is a far bigger market than in the UK. (Look at how many regular active users there are on the forum - bar a certain few). Obviously this will change due to the organic growth of RMC. The brand will develop and build up a larger following (I'm assuming this is the plan for RMC) over a few years.
Evisu only recently opened (as in within the last few years) a London store and they have been around alot longer than RMC. As such they have built up a reputation and demand ('everyone' knows Evisu & recognises their branding) - for a stand alone store. There is no way RMC is at that level now.
I believe RMC should continue it's current development of entering the market through selected stores. The other option would be to have a concession in a department store - like Stone Island's or Evisu's in Selfridges (+ Harvey Nics for Evisu). Now that would be GOOD!
We can only dream!

IN NYC there is Bape and BBC and they are not known as well as Evisu either but there is a nich of a selected few that love the brand and support it well enough to keep the store open. I believe if martin did open one of his stores in SOHO it will do well.

i disagree with cd. as bobby says bape have their busy workshops and only have a few pieces available in store at a time. i definitely think the time is right for seleven galleries in london and ny and maybe la.

oh yeah, and give me a job application form when they open

no, i agree with CD.
bape and bbc stuff is for rich nyc kids, those brands and known more than rmc and perhaps as known as evisu. it will take a few years to open a seleven store outside HK.
most probably in NYC, but not in london. there are so few people here from europe who got rmcs and probably there are not too many other people out there from london who got rmcs. and when there are such people, they just bought a pair for fun and not because they understand anything about the brand.
rmc´s popularity to the ordinary crowd has to grow here before a store may open.
but to be honest, i dont hope that too many people will get them rmcs, i dont want to see everyday someone wearing rmcs...
i prefer the status quo.

i agree. it's better the start small to tap into the crowd then start growing from there. starting up a seleven wouldn't be a wise business choice since there isn't a survey of some sort done to find out the demands for the brand. and imo, BAPE hype in NYC died. people still go there? the hype ain't all that like wat it was 2 years ago. and being wat RMC is now, it's better to not start too many chains and become like wat evisu becomes, mass producing and thus reducing quality and every other person on the street wears it, losing it's exclusitivity. which then makes not the special one no more lol.

I did think about BAPE. But again I feel BAPE is far bigger (in the UK) than RMC and has been around much longer - therefore a demand and market has been created. Can someone tell me - how many stockists of BAPE are there in the UK?
Isn't the whole 'marketing' of BAPE that it's EXTREMELY limited? So by having BAPE sold in loads of stores that goes against it's image of being limited! This therefore means they 'have' to have a stand alone store or concession - similar to the way Louis Vuitton operates. Also look at the BAPE price point - this is surely more than RMC.
Where as with RMC you can get it from a few retailers - which is probably enough for the current market.
The other thing is comparing the collections of Evisu & RMC - Evisu caters for a much larger market (they have formal shirts, trainers, a selection of jeans, t-shirts etc). Evisu deals with a few markets not just the 'urban' market which RMC only seems to be in at the mo. Again look at the various Evisu collections (Deluxe, EU-ED, Hertitage, Mainline, Donna, Bonsai, Genes etc).
I just don't see the market for an RMC flagship store in London - there aren't enough people!
As Bobby says in the US there is more of a market for this type of clothing.
