Pretty much everything costs more, in particular the UK, than other countries! However when I went to New York the European brands (Moschino, Versace, Paul Smith Ted Baker, D&G, Ben Sherman) cost alot more than in the UK! I guess it comes down to what country the brand is from. Basically the price in US$ is the same here but in GB£. Given the exchange rate we are pretty much paying 50%-100% more than those in the US. I recently read an article about Adobe downloadable upgrades (so no 'physical' product to make or store) costing loads more in the UK than the US!!

I guess that RMC/Yoropiko are the same price in the UK & the US (at present)? Anyone know if that's true?

According to Martin, all RMC/Yoropiko are pretty much the same selling price give or take a bit across the world, the only variable being local sales taxes. So for example Saudi which has zero sales tax would in theory be the cheapest place to buy RMC, and in the USA where sales tax ( or VAT as we call it in the UK) varies from one state to the other, the price could be different despite being in the same country.We know that the Seleven stores in Hong Kong are cheaper, but consider that VIP's get 20% discount which is quite a lot on top of lower sales tax being applied. Even if we could buy online from Seleven once the goods got to the UK we would be hammered by VAT and Customs which would take away any savings for us ( but at least we would have access to all the goodies there!)

at the end his sneakers ended up with $318...price in the us was $125

OUCH! Mind you £45 ( $90) of that cost was shipping because they put it on a 2 - 3 day courier via DHL, which I didnt ask for, still at least I got them quicker than expected I suppose. I would have to guess the VAT and Customs to be approx £55 ($110) or there abouts, which incluses a handling charge by the courier which is seperate from the shipping cost. So if I had my sneakers on say a 5 - 7 US postal service, then the cost for shipping would have been about half what I paid, so either way shipping from the states to the UK is costly. However my recent purchase of a pair of New Balance Dragons was far less, despite them costing $125, the same as my Greedy Genius/Yoropiko's. Total cost for them to me was $165, I didnt pay any customs or VAT at all and it was on a 5 - 7 day US parcel service! I guess if you want to avoid paying these charges then opt. for US parcel service, cos DHL will make sure you pay the full charges!
