hi guys - i'm new to the forum. but thought i'd share this story. so i got back from a vacation (well business

)to Vegas and magic a couple of days ago. i'm starting my own store and was at magic on a buying mission with a couple of business partners.
we wanted to stock red monkey as we know its a massive brand and would be the stores number 1 label. me and our buyer had a look at the red monkey/rangy mountain company collection and discussed the possibility of stocking red monkey with them. the guy (i think he was called maki?) explained why they changed their name from red monkey and assured us they were red monkey. if i'm being totally honest we weren't feeling the range they had - it looked pretty cheap and my buyer said the quality wasn't good. this suprised both of us as we new red monkey had a good reputation. anyway after a few discussions between me, my other partners and our buyer that night we decided against stocking red monkey/rangy mountain. we went on the wednesday to look for a new brand to pull everyone in - in streetwear and pool. our buyer noticed the rmc booth so we went over for a chat and a look at the collection. we ended up talking with martin and some of the guys about rmc. we soon realised that these were the people behind the real red monkey jeans brand. martin explained the problems he had been having with the rangy group. we got on really well and the garments speak for themselves (i guess everyone on here knows that already). we didn't wait around - we placed quite a big order there and then for pieces from the new collection that martin has just released (which we are hoping will be ready by december). hopefully the store will be all ready by then. some of the jeans and tees we ordered are in that magic video on youtube.
we knew red monkey was a big player and would draw people to our store but couldn't beleive the quality of the collection - that was before we saw the original rmc martin ksohoh red monkey.
martin told us about the forum so here we are! thought i'd post a message about this experience - luckily we made the right choice. (can't believe we were going to buy rangy mountain company - they assured us they were the original red monkey - which clearly they are not. we would have wasted a huge amount of the budget in stock we wouldn't be able to sell.)
had a look around the forum before and it looks like other people and stores have fallen for those criminals at rangy mountain company - i thank god we didn't.
been checking out everyones collections - real nice guys.
thought we'd share our experience and hope this is a warning to any other retailers - we have to look out for each other.
peace.

also add that we also saw kimbo slice at the tapout booth - talk about people going crazy round him - cameras, everyone pushing and that.
