Yeah I can certainly see your point, I mean dont get me wrong I still have love for Evisu and still purchase items occasionally because I feel they match RMC really well and they are still good quality. For those who were into the brand when it was massive a few years ago I think most would suggest it started to loose direction in recent years, and is almost falling into the trap of making designs that appeal to a much wider audience, and in fairness who can blame them, they are in business to make money after all and their survival cannot depend on a few loyal die hard fans.

I agree that the likes of Ed hardy and C.A. made elaberate designs into overkill and yeah people have been there, seen it and wore the T shirt, they are rightly tired of the massive in your face designs. Of course RMC has more subtle embroidered jeans as well, but I really think it would be a shame to see RMC gradually drift away from its core trademark look. Even Bape is playing it much safer these days and you will see die hard bape fans feeling alienated by some of the newer releases ( although that probably has more to do with Nigo having less input into the designs these days than anything else)

I understand that the OR Japanese denim project is a limited run and this isnt the direction RMC will be going with all its products, but given Martin has developed the MKWS brand to cater for the mainstream, I would like to see more niche designs being produced for the RMC and especially Yoropiko brands for the die hard fans to buy.

What attracted me to RMC/Yoropiko was the designs in the back pockets and on the front on some...i like the designs because they make you unique from the regular crowd...i dont know how they do it where you at but where im at they make your jeans automatically stand out since with plain pocket jeans, they dont get you complements nor even make the brand worth its money...

Jeans like True Religion and others like it with the same plain back pockets are not worth your $300 due to not being reconized for their uniqueness instead they look like your regular average pair of jeans found at your local family store like WaltMart

Where RMC/yoropiko, evisu n others let you stand out and sends a message to people about who you are...unlike the other plain brands that dont have this effect since they can easily be taken as regular jeans where they not being noticed, meaning there is nothing special n you can actually wear it every week and no one will kno2...as for fashion I dont care about it...thats just for followers im a leader

to be honest.. if you get a pair of plain jeans than your most likely most interested in the fit.. now if you love RMC's fit than go for it but if you like your jeans to fit a certain way than i would go for a cheaper brand with a wider variety of styles ya know

DO THEY NOT LOOK LIKE THE RMC ON SALE ON BAGGA . ?? BUT A BIT DIFFERENT, THEY SEEM LIKE A FAIL TO ME, AND PLEASE DO NOT GO ON ABOUT THE DENIM, AND HOW SPECIAL IT IS. I REALLY DO NOT THINK PEOPLE WHO SEE YOU WEARING THE JEANS WILL KNOW HOW SPECIAL THE DENIM IS, UNLESS YOU TELL THEM,

THEY WILL JUST THINK ITS A PLAIN PAIR OF JEANS

AND THE RED TAB. IS IT NOT IN ON THE SAME LOCATION AS THE LEVIS JEANS ??

ISN'T THAT COPIED RIGHED ???

I suppose the fact that nobody will know how special the denim is doesnt really matter, the point of the plain RMC's is that they are understated which means they will attract buyers who normally wouldnt buy into RMC, and for those collectors who want RMC quality where a more formal dress requirement is more suited.

However I do take your point about the red tab, because thats exactly what I was thinking when I first saw them too. Levis are very protective about all aspects of their design and anybody who has followed the denim business for any time will remember the lawsuits made by Levis against many of the popular Japanese Premium denim brands. In fact my very own Sugarcane jeans have had the red tab snipped off, I can just see the remainder of the label if I pull the pocket edge back.

I dont know what the legalities are anymore regarding this red tab but I am going to assume that any of the Japan made OR that are openly sold outside Japan will likely have their tabs cut off to avoid any potential lawsuit. Its simple enough to do. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that jeans sold in Japan are exempt from prosecution by Levis, probably part of the reason its the only time we have seen or are likely to see RMC's produced with the tab placed next to the pocket instead of the centre yolk. Naturally RMC is normally manufactured in Hong Kong so thus would be liable to prosecution.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens to outgoing stocks of these jeans but I understand like all RMC they will be a very limited run so perhaps Levis wont care anyway?

The Levi's copyright issue is mainly "rampant" in the States (or North America). It's not such an issue in Europe and/or Asia. This is why the Japanese denim brands still offer the tab as an alternative.

It's all about the perceived quality of the jeans. In the end it's what makes you feel good, the appreciation of the workmanship, materials or the fit for instance. I mean there are people and then those who just want to enjoy the product and don't really care about the perceived appearance of the product. Good to see different styles of products, although honestly did feel that the RMC design with the two horizontal lines in the back pockets does have a bit too much similarity to Momotaro Jeans. But hey inspiration comes in different forms and it's nice to see the brand evolve...

I'm just happy to see more of a denim selection in the brand.
