ok now I'm sure we've all done it. either it was your first pair , you didn't care, or you truly didn't know. Maybe you were drunk one night on ebay , your eyes were a little blurry and your thoughts a little..."cloudy"? (It happens!)

the one on the right was my first pair before I knew anything about real ones.

I thought they were cool BECAUSE the gold threading looked fluorescent yellow hahaOMG!

as you can see by the one on the right I has no idea what "selvedge"even was!

like the real ones it even had the name printed in it!
by the pics on ebay and poor lighting (the blue looked tan) I really was convinced they were real as soon as I pulled them out of the bag I was cursing! Real ones would look great with my yoropiko jacket.

from the help of members of this forum and Paul and the staff at Togged I won the paypal claim and got a full refund!

this forum gave me education but also encourages my addiction. If I never joined this forum I'd probably be sitting there in those origional fake RMC's

A great idea for a thread, nice one Shawn, after all if you have never seen a fake its easy to get caught out. I was lucky, having never bought a fake, my first pair were from Harvey Nichols ( samurai man) but I already had done some research having come from an Evisu background.
Your fakes, especially the Gods edition do look very convincing what with the number on the waistpatch. People shouldnt beat themselves up over being duped by fakes, its easy done, after all they were bought with the right intention. Whilst genuine bargains do come along from time to time, fact is price is usually the main factor in spotting a fake, few are likely to sell something they paid hundreds for, for pennies.
As always once you have one pair you can use it as a guide for everything else you see, although there are always variations which are genuine but look a bit different ( different selvdges, different coloured tabs, different type waistpatches). As always if in any dought there is always somebody on the forum who can assist and advise.

I was once a victim of RMC fakes as well. Bought them from Century 21 and didn't know much about telling real from fakes. bought 3 at 1 shot and found out they were fakes after reading through the forum. Well we live and learn. We should look on the bright side that we now have experience with fakes and will be able educate others so they won't be stung like we did.

can easliy happen, if in doubt iv always ask dunny or shin althought pictures can be misleading. luckly i bought my first pair from dubai in harvey nichs ever since that iv been hooked on rmc.. cant get enough

Good threat Shawn! I have one pair of fake RMCs that I got sometime around 2005ish from Malaysia. Didn't know about the brand back then just liked the look of the jeans, but that got me doing research and I found out soon enough what the brand and its products are really all about. The jeans are still in Malaysia and will not be worn again. I was supposed to bring them with me to Finland to show folks the difference between the authentic and fakes, but alas my luggage only had space for genuine pairs, heh. Nevertheless, good thread and will definitely further educate folks about the difference between fakes and authentic RMCs.

I will make a nice photo soon.... im waiting for a delivery..... then im gonna cover my whole apartment floor with fakes and blast it with the cam

What do you do with all the fakes, do you wear them yourself or sell em on for profit?

I wear them at work while painting.. so they get all messed up...
